LISA D. SUMMERS, ESQ

I became a lawyer because I believe passionately that all citizens should have equal access to ethical legal expertise. It is important for all lawyers to give back to the community by performing pro bono legal work as they are able.  I volunteer for the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland’s Brief Advice Clinics and Operation Legal Help Ohio which is a statewide network of pro bono attorneys available to assist our Military Veterans who cannot afford private counsel.

I am a native of Northeastern Ohio, educated in Greater Cleveland, and reside in Geneva Township. My law practice is  located in downtown Geneva, Ohio, the gateway to Lake Erie and right in the heart of Wine Country.  I am active in my community, serving on county not-for-profit and community Boards such as the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, the Geneva Area Grape JAMboree committee, the Geneva Business Association and the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, I am also an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Ohio Department of Health, a job which takes me to a number of counties mostly on the eastern side of the State of Ohio and sometimes to Toledo and Columbus.

I am a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ashtabula County Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association where I was a Bar Association Trustee and Chairman of the Family Law Committee. I have also lectured at seminars on Family Law topics for both the Lake County Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. I am rated by Martindale-Hubbell, our professional peer review system as having high ethical standards, integrity, skill and knowledge of the law.

I have been an avid purebred dog fancier, breeding nationally and internationally successful Gordon Setters and Pharaoh Hounds under the NCM prefix for about thirty years.  I am actively involved in American Kennel Club dog sports, both conformation and performance, and am a member of the Gordon Setter Club of America and the Pharaoh Hound Club of America and a former Delegate to the AKC.  I helped develop the Gordon Setter Club of America’s Judge’s Education program and taught seminars to up and coming AKC permit judges for about fifteen years.

I share my home with Zalika, my 9 year old Pharaoh Hound, her 3 year old daughter Makela and Yanna, my 3 year old Gordon Setter.
